Disney Travel day

Good Friday- March 29, 2013-  would be the travel day to Disney.  Our airport flight was at 7:50 at night and then we would land in FL around 10:10 p.m....rush to get the rental car place and then head off to the villa.  Surprisingly, we arrived early, got the rental car, luggage was pretty easy and we were off for the hour drive to the villa.  We arrived at midnight and we got settled.  We traveled with our friends Anne and her two daughters, Allie and Becky.    Addie did so good on the airplane!  We've had several talks about behavior on the airplane.  No whining, no screaming, no pushing, no running and no crying and she had to wear her seat-belt.  My little girl was awesome on the plane!  she got an A+!  She did great on the travel to the villa.  Now it was time to catch some sleep and rest up for our first full day at Disney!

1st Notre Dame pep rally

We took Addie to her first ND pep rally on November 16th, 2012.  It would be Te'o's last home game and I just think he is a great young man.  He should win the Heisman.  I thought it would be fun for Addie to go and experience.  We've only taken her to volleyball games in the Purcell arena.  As soon as we got to our seats, she asks for a hot dog and popcorn. The pep rally started at 5:00 and after 30 minutes of waiting for the team to arrive all I heard was I want a "hot dog and popcorn, please".  She wasn't understanding the concept that it wasn't available for some reason...plus I knew she was hungry too because it was our dinner time.  So 5:35 the band enters and she gets into it alittle bit.  Then finally the team arrives and they make their speeches.  All in all it was an ok pep rally.  I am not rushing back to go to another one as it has been a few years since we had been to one.  I kinda know why now.

She was excited to see the cheerleaders, leprechaun, band and football team.

So after the pep rally, we went to Coney Express where we got her a hot dog and she was happy!

1st time to the Dentist

Not sure if I am a horrible parent on this one or not, but it actually worked out in our favor.  Thank goodness.  When we went through insurance plans last year, I thought I added Addison to my dental plan, but that wasn't the case.  She was added to Jeremy's.  Jeremy's dental plan isn't accepted at my doctor and I've had the same doctor since I was probably old enough to go to the dentist.  When Addie was 2, she went to my teeth cleaning and sat in the chair and watched me get my teeth done and they just briefly looked in her mouth and said looks ok just let's do a formal cleaning when she is three years old.  Well she is 3 and a half and finally I scheduled the appointment... only to realize that we are going through in and out of insurance plans for work and needed to decide if we are doing a family dental plan this year.  If we do, then it would require me to drop my doctor that I've had as a kid or Jeremy drop his doctor.  Well the decision was made for us because my doctor is retiring.

I scheduled an appointment for Addison for October 29th and it happened to be on a day that Jeremy was off from work and he was able to go with.  usually it's just me and Addie on these types of things.  It's great when daddy tags along!  I actually wanted him to go because I've never been there and wanted to see if I would like this new dentist or not.

So as we arrived, Addie was called back to the hygienist little spot.  She did great at explaining the instruments to Addie and she giggled every time something new happened.   Addison even got comfortable in the chair and took off her shoes!  that's my kid.  So the scraper thing was called the tooth counter.  The suction thing was called Mr. Thirsty!  The fluoride that they need to paint on is called "the painting brush for teeth".   I was so impressed with how Addison did with the hygienist and the doctor.  She listened well and was very good!

We received some pointers from the hygienist on some spots that we miss when brushing.  It's all on the bottom on the inside of her teeth... basically where the tongue doesn't want you go!  Her teeth looked great and she had a total of 20!  We received a good report as parents, thank goodness!

Now onto the warning.... she is gonna take after me with needing braces.  They've already pre-warned us that odds are she will need braces.  I had braces 3 times (1st grade, 5th grade and 8th grade).  I can't imagine all the money my parents dished out for my teeth to be straight, but I appreciate it now!

Oh- the doctor and hygienist were tickled because Addie has what I call an extra tooth growing on an existing tooth... come to find out it's just a cusp (spelling).

Halloween party- school

Addie had a great day at school for her Halloween party.  Her teachers do a great job  about planning and just having lots of tricks up their sleeves for the kiddos.  She sang songs, read a story, had breakfast, played games, did crafts and dressed up as Cinderella to go trick or treating at school.   I would say it was a successful day.  Last year at this time, I had a work meeting and was unable to attend her school party.  I was in tears and ready to quit my job because there is nothing more important than my daughter.  The way work had been going, it was the you are a number, not a person mentality and that really hurt.   So I made the vow to never miss a school function or event of Addison's as I felt so guilty for not going and still gets to me this day.  Luckily Jeremy went and took pictures and videos last year for me.  This year, I took tons of pictures of her with her friends and really enjoyed it with the other parents too!
