Monday- June 22nd- today was the after baby shower at my work. It was the fourth of 4 showers! Everything was so nice. They had tons of salads, homemade desserts and just so nice that everyone was there. Everyone got us tons of books for Addison and her book collection and a gift certificate to the spa for me. We haven't done much reading to date and this will get us started. I usually sing her the alphabet, do numbers and shapes with her. That is usually the extent of our "education" time. Now we get to add a bunch of stories now! Addie was very good at the shower today. She was held by a few people and even fell asleep a few times. It was surprising to me because I would have thought she would have fallen asleep on the car ride over, but she is more and more awake now during the day. She only really takes "cat" naps.

Tuesday June 23rd- we went shopping with grammie today. We had to get items for her Baptism party at Sam's Club. We also did lunch at Olive Garden (again)! Addie was awake the whole lunch and did good. She kept herself occupied and just enjoyed the noise, talking and lights!

Wednesday June 24th- today we had lunch with Meg! Addie did so good at lunch. We went to Barnaby's and she was awake the whole time enjoying our girl talk. she even chimed in a few times to talk herself and also gave a few looks for what we were talking about. I can't imagine in about 16 years what she will be saying and doing in high school.... it will be interesting.

Later, Grammie stopped over and visited with us for a little bit and we ordered more pictures online!

Thursday- June 25th- Today we went shopping with my mom! We went to Kohl's, Macy's baby gap, sam's club and a few other places. Addie received some adorable outfits from Grammie today! We are so lucky to be spending so much time with Grammie and that she has the summer "off". So far we have seen Grammie everyday except for maybe 5 days total. I can't believe Addie is 9 weeks old and my mom has only missed 5 days of seeing her.

After we went shopping, we went to see Dzie Dzie and I was holding Addie and Dzie Dzie was waving to her and she moved her hand and Dzie Dize was so happy that he said "she waved at me" how cute was that!!

We then came home and daddy got home from work and watched Addie while mama enjoyed her first girl's night out dinner with Andrea, Meg and Lisa! We did these before I was prego, during the pregnancy and now after the pregnancy! It is so different being away from Addie for a few hours. I am always wondering if she is eating (taking a bottle), happy, crying, talking, sleeping...etc. I got home and she was so content and happy with daddy that it was awesome. It's good for her to spend her alone time with daddy too and for them to bond.

When I got home I put her to bed, but we are starting a new tradition since Jeremy is kinda left out of whole process with me breastfeeding her that he is reading her a book every night. We read eight silly monkey's and chica chica boom boom.

Friday- June 26th- Addie slept really good last night. She went to bed around 10:00ish and slept until about 4:40 in the morning. She is getting really great about this and lets mama get some sleep, however I really don't sleep as I still check on her. She isn't swaddled anymore! We accomplished that early on!

Today my mom brought over lunch and she watched Addison while I took Russeau to get his sutures out. Poor little guy, but he is adjusting really well to just seeing with one eye. As soon as he come home and relaxed a bit, he took a familiar spot...underneath Addison's swing in the living room. He slept there, even though she wasn't in it.

We then went over to Jeremy's parents house for dinner. We enjoyed some fresh vegetables from grandpa's garden! Addison loves the car rides (for the most part) and she stays awake a majority of the time, which surprises me because most babies fall asleep in the car. However when Addison was in my tummy and I was driving she was active too. She did really good at Grandma and Grandpa's house and even enjoyed a little fresh air under the cabana/bar thing.

Saturday June 27th- Today was getting ready at Grandma and Grandpa's house for Addison's Baptism since her reception was going to be here. Mama did some cooking and setting up, grandma made her famous potato salad (mom tried to help when she could). After everything was organized because I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to party planning and I go overboard that I was able to relax a bit and enjoy dinner with them and Adam, Elizabeth and Harrison. Jeremy did great today at watching Addie and keeping her entertained while I was able to get some of her party stuff done!

Sunday- June 28th- Today was Addison's very important day to become a member of the church and declare her faith (well I guess mama and daddy decided that for her). Our faith is very important to Jeremy and myself.... even though we don't attend mass every week, we do pray and have God in our lives. I try to do prayers with Addison every night when I put her to bed. I want her to get in the routine of praying and being thankful for what she has and also praying for the needs of others. Jeremy and I also had a big decision on who her godparents would be as we do not take this lightly. We wanted godparents who were strong and believed in their faith and who would be great role models for her when she grows up. We want godparents that she can go to and be comfortable with discussing anything and receiving the same advice that we would tell her too! We chose Adam, Jeremy's brother, and Andrea, my best friend from high school (who I've known since 1992). We know they will take care of our daughter and not take the responsibility of a godparent lightly either! We are very lucky that we have them in our lives for her.

Addison started the day off in a beautiful silk pink dress that my cousin Lisa bought her. She wore this to mass at the Basilica. After communion, me, Andrea and my mom went to the car to change her into her Baptism while gown and nurse her too. Andrea also gave her her present. She gave her a beautiful pearl necklace. This tradition was started by Andrea's godmother and she is starting it with her goddaughter. Every year on her birthday, we add a pearl to her necklace so by the time she is married, she has a beautiful pearl necklace to wear. How awesome is that! It is just so perfect! So Addison received her first piece of jewelry (a very nice piece I might add).

Addie also received her first baby rosary bracelet from Aunt Kathy and Uncle Mike. It was too small for her wrist, but she actually held it for a little bit during the ceremony. The ceremony was just amazing and I am glad that Jeremy's dad captured it on video. We just need to figure out how to save this in the future for her to watch. (it's not like we have VHS tapes anymore for this).

We had lots of family at the church celebrating her Baptism and this was so appreciated.

We then had her reception at Jeremy's parents house and Jeremy was so happy that we got this catered by Famous Dave's! It was our first time trying it and they had everything ready for us and it made it easy on mama for less hassle!

Monday June 15th- Well I went into work to get a few things done today and also pick up some work to do at home this week. I am not back to work, but need to get a few things done. So while I went into work for about 2 hours, my mom stayed and watched Addie. I know that she enjoys time with Addison and I am so happy that they get to spend time together. I think it is very important for her to be with her grandparents!

Today would be the day that tests all parents.... Addison had her first round of shots. I fed her about 45 minutes before we left (I thought this was good timing, but it wasn't). our Doctor told us to give Addie some Tylenol about an hour before she comes in for her shots. Well I didn't look at the dosage amount until 3:00 and her appointment was at 4. the dosage said call your doctor for under 2 years of age. So I called the doc and they told me .4 ml. I was able to give that too her and then we were off to the appointment. Daddy was meeting us there from work. Daddy hasn't missed one appointment. He went with me to all the pregnancy appointments and he is going with me for the shot appointments.

So as we are waiting in the waiting room, we of course are celebrities... I should say Addie is. The girls just love her that work in the office (it helps when I have gone to the same doctor's office all my life) we just have a new doc because my old one passed away, but still have some of the same people working there which is nice. So now Addie gets to experience the royal treatment. So we go back for her shots. First she has to get her measurements done..

Addie weighed 10 pounds 12 ounces. She had gained 4 pounds in 6.5 weeks!!! Her length was 22 1/4. both in the 50th percentile. Her head measurement is in the 75th percentile. She is doing great growth wise and keeps on improving!

So as we are waiting for the doctor to come in and check her out she decides to get alittle fussy. I was a bad mom and didn't bring her a bottle and didn't want to feed her since the doc was coming in so she fussed while she was looked at by him. We asked him a few questions and the one that we asked was should we be swaddling her still. He said it didn't matter right now since she isn't rolling over and just to do what she is comfortable and sleeping with. Well Jeremy and I have been working on getting out of swaddling (she gets her arms lose anyway) and didn't know if we were rushing this or not. we asked about tummy time too as I've been working on that, but not all the time. It's kinda when I put the mat out for her to lay out on with the pillow. he said for me not to worry about it as most babies do not like being on their stomach at this age. Addie has her moments when she likes tummy time and when she doesn't.
So after the doc left he sent in his nurse to do the shots. Jeremy was in charge of holding her down and my job was to talk to her. I was so preoccupied by watching her face and talking to her that I didn't even watch the nurse give her a shot. She got a total of 3 shots and 1 oral vaccination. Addie screamed when her shot was given.... she even held her breath and her faced turned red, but she was a trooper. after the nurse was done and left the room, I nursed her. we got this advice from Becca, one of our friends who has a 4 month old daughter now and she said that really helped Annika. I knew Addison needed a feeding and also wanted her to feel safe for going through the pain she was in.

When we got home I made sure that Addie was kicking her legs and moving them as much as possible. We also had a visitor, our neighbors Jen, Maddox and Coen! We took a walk with them and Addie fell asleep in the stroller. We were probably outside for a good hour and it was nice for her to get some fresh air!

We decided to swaddle her tonight since she probably needed all the rest she could from getting shots. She fussed alittle when we got home, but then she was fine. We went to be at our normal time and Jeremy and I both kept checking on her in the middle of the night because we had to watch for a fever. She slept the whole night.... I decided to wake her at 6 am because I was so nervous that she didn't have a feeding from 9:30 the night before.... that is a long time for a 2 month old. Her first night sleeping the whole night and I didn't get much sleep because I was up checking on her constantly... I guess that is how it works!

Tuesday- June 16th- today we had lunch with daddy at Red Robin. Addie slept for the most part. She did wake up to check things out, but then went to sleep. She was admired by the wait staff and also by 2 older couples... the "grandpa's" came over and asked about her and really took to her. It was so cute.
We also went to work today and Addie had all the attention on her. I also had to fed her at work... that was interesting for the first time feeding her in the wellness room. Once I did that, she was fine and good to go!
Addie slept from 9:45-6:30am today! 2 nights in a row where she slept the whole night!!! Could this be the start of her sleeping through the night? I worry though that she isn't getting enough food, but I am always reassured when people tell me that she will wake up and let me know if she is hungry. I do constantly check on her throughout the night!

June 18th- Thursday- today we had lunch with my mom at Olive Garden. We introduced her. Addie pretty much was awake the entire time and was just so content in her car seat. She did really good. We also did some shopping with Addie and got alot of stuff done for her Baptism party.

June 19th- Friday- today daddy had off and I went to work to get a few things done and then I met E at the mall to do some shopping. I got to watch Harrison for a few while Elizabeth tried on some clothes! He was such a good baby and gave me tons of smiles. Addie had some alone time with daddy and they had a great time! She took a bottle for daddy and they had play time!

My parents also came over today in the afternoon and spent some time with Addison. We had a cookout and celebrated father's day with my dad.

Addie slept 9:30pm-3:30am today.

June 20th- Saturday- My baby turns 2 months!! I can't believe that Jeremy and I created a human being. I can't believe that we have such a beautiful daughter and I thank God everyday for her. We are very lucky.
Today Jeremy and I had a date and we saw the movie hangover and Addison went to her Grandpa and Grandma's house for the first time for them to watch her. She got to see a worm that Grandpa found. She went outside by the pool and she also relaxed inside too. We got a good report that Addison was very good while mama and daddy were gone! It is weird being away from her and I told Jeremy when we were walking in the movie theater that it is just so different not having her with us.

Addie slept 10-4:30 today

June 21st- Today was father's day and we started off by visiting dzie Dzie and seeing my dad. We then went to Jeremy's parents house where everyone was at and celebrated with his dad. Addie pretty much was crashed out the entire time while we were there. Daddy gave her a bottle and relaxed with her a bit.

This week Addie has really:

found her hands to her mouth... she does this constantly
Since we do not swaddle her that much anymore she sleeps in the "touchdown" position. arms up by her head. It's so cute. I need to capture a picture of this.

she follows objects really good right now, but I know this will only improve with time.

She coo's!

She smiles when she is waking up and you get her in her crib in the morning.

She is really doing a great job of holding her head up for a longer period of time now.

She is starting to grab at things... especially mama's hair!

June 8th- I had a dentist appointment so my mom stayed and watched Addie. I also ran into work to get a few things done (even though I am suppose to be on maternity leave). my mom said Addie did so good for her. She did struggle taking a bottle, because she doesn't have many bottles so its not a surprise that she didn't like it too much.

June 9th- we visited Dzie Dzie with my mom and Dzie Dzie sang roll out the barrel to her. Her first polish polka. My mom danced with her as Dzie Dzie and her sang it to Addie.

June 10th- Today was Addison's first adventure to a restaurant. We met Anne for Lunch at logan's. We requested the back room and we were teh only ones in there as the section was closed, but they let us sit there. She did great and woke up a few times, but went back to sleep.

Grammie came over and visited with us. We always have fun with Grammie!

June 11th- Today was not a good day in our household. We ended up in the emergency room with Russeau. Short story... Russeau only has one eye now.

June 12th- Today I went to the spa with my mom as I am in a Tim and Jenny's wedding and mama needed a makeover... it's been a year since my hair has been highlighted and I needed it bad. So while I was at the spa, daddy stayed home in the morning with Addie and then Gramps watched Addie in the afternoon until I got home. It was the longest I have gone without seeing Addie. From 9:30 to about 3:00 in the afternoon. Addie did good though. She fussed with the bottle for daddy and gramps but she took it. Gramps and Grammie purchased playtex bottles for her since she wasn't taking the Dr. Browns or Avent. I am hoping that she will take those bottles later because we have quite a few of them.

Tonight was the rehearsal dinner with Tim and Jenny. I went and left daddy with Addie. It had been a long night since we didn't get Russeau until 6am and then we had to go to our vet this morning and it was just stressful. Russeau is one of our "kids" so it sucks having to go through this. I had fun at the rehearsal, but I didn't go to the dinner because of what had just happened in our house in the past 24 hours. I was just exhausted and plus we have to keep the dogs separated now and that is a task in itself.

June 13th- Tim and Jenny's wedding! My mom came over around noon today and watched Addie while we had the wedding (I was a reader in their wedding) and then we went home after the wedding and then got Addie a nap and we went to Ben and Gina's where the gang was at and hung out with them for a few. IT was great to hang out with the friends. It is so weird being away from Addie though. We got home around 10:30 and my mom put her to sleep in her crib. She was just so content. She wasn't swaddled and she slept really good for us. She is "starting" to get used to not being swaddled.

June 14th- Today we celebrated Dzie Dzie's 84th birthday with a party for him. It was a few weeks postponed but we made it! It was great to be with him and for the family to get together. Addison was great. She was awake for a bit and then decided to sleep alot. We showed how she kicks her right leg and she just goes to town with it!

This week we have noticed Addison:

follow you - she will lift her head backwards as you are leaving the room if she is laying down to follow her.

she definitely gives us more smiles

she loves to kick her right leg (we call it kick-starting)

she likes her swing and looks at herself in the mirror and watches the mobile

when she is sleeping she will let out this cry and we are like what is wrong, but then she falls back to sleep right away.

she loves to stare at the fan and the lights

she doesn't like things on her feet... she kicks off a blanket (just like mama)

so many people say she looks like Jeremy and my dad (round face...tiny lips)

when we get her in the morning/or the middle of the NIGHT for a feeding, she has scooted all the way to the end of the crib. I predict we are going to have a mover early. Jeremy will have to childproof earlier before later!

Jeremy's nickname for her is Squidgy or Squid monster

Russeau is always by her side. He still guards her room and helps me with the 3am feeding. He always keeps an eye on her.

She loves bath time. Riley and Russeau even join us too. It's still routine for the little ones to be in the bathroom with me while I get ready and now when I say "Bath time" for Addie to know... they go running into the bathroom and they wait. So cute!

June 1st- My mom and I went shopping (again). Jeremy is gonna have to bring home more money so mama can shop... the downfall of staying home, mama spends money...daddy doesn't like that.

June 2nd- I had my 6 week check up with the doc and everything is good to go. I am back to normal. I am within 7 pounds of pre-pregnancy weight. While I went to the doctor, Grammie watched Addie. I also stopped in at work to take care of a few things. Thank goodness my mom was coming over because as Jeremy was leaving for work in the morning he told me that my light was on in the Jeep. He said my battery was dead because I left the liftgate open all night... opps! So when I went to go to the doc, my car wouldn't start at all so I had to take my moms car. Thank goodness she was over to watch Addie. We called my dad and he came over after work and got my car started but said I probably needed a new battery.

June 3rd- So I decided to take a trip to Michigan City with Addie and stopped and got my mom so we could hit some sales at the ligthhouse mall. Carters was having 50-70% off! My mom got to push Addie in her stroller! We hit Carter's and then went back to the car and was going to park at Gymboree and Baby Gap... well the car almost didn't start. My mom stayed in the car while I spent some gift cards and then it was homeward bound. I didn't care if I got stuck at my parents, but didn't want to get stuck at the mall. We eventually made it home and everything was good. I figured with the driving that the battery might charge itself.

Addie has been sleeping ok for the most part... she is in a good routine of sleeping from 9:30-10ish to about 3 in the morning. We are trying to get her out of swaddling and sleeping in PJ's... I am starting to get nervous if she rolls over and can't get back over. Not that she is anywhere close to rolling over, but I am a worrier. Wish us luck with taking away the swaddling. I do have to admit that Addie is very good though because she has been in her crib since day 1 from the hospital. Daddy was very addaminent about that one. He wanted her to be in her own room and in her own bed. She has been doing great!

June 4th- well my mom came over today and we had Addie in the car ready to do some shopping and guess what... my car doesn't start... stupid battery. So I had to call Jeremy for him to pick up a battery and change it because it was ticking me off. My mom and I were ready to take Addie on another shopping trip because she needed a cute outfit for Harrison's baptism that was coming up this weekend. She needed a good church outfit that fir the occasion and that was special. My mom ended up going shopping... bummer that Addie and I couldn't go with.

June 5th- we relaxed at home today. We are trying to increase the amount of tummy time that we do. Addie gives us lots of smiles and it is just the most perfect little smile ever. It just brightens up my day. It is so cute when daddy comes home because he takes her and she just smiles at him for a good few minutes. It's so cute. We continue to do our naked time most days and Addie loves to take a bath. I've switched to the regular bathtub now and not the infant one anymore. She sits in a hammock in this bathtub. She likes the water poured on her and I am hoping that this lasts for her Baptism!

So tonight we tried not to swaddle her... she went to sleep around 11:30 and got up at about 1:30- than 4 - then 6... It was a rough night... her arms kept her up alot since they were free now. Jeremy went and got her and I fed her in bed and then handed her to him and she slept on his chest until 8:45 in the morning.

June 6th= we had intentions of getting up early today and going over to see my Grandpa Totten and then daddy needed a haircut. So I called my dad to let him know we were running late for Grandpa's and that we would be there. We got there and Addie got to meet her Great Grandpa and Great Uncle Kenny and Great Aunt Pam.

After we visited my family, we went to do some shopping and then went to grandma and grandpa's house. We got Grandpa a new ND flag to put up outside.

We did the swaddle thing again tonight and it was still alittle rough... I went 3.5 hours for my first stint and then I was up about every 2 hours after that. Mama was tired in the morning.

Sunday June 7th- Harrison's Baptism today. We took Addie to church for the first time today. We left our house at 10:35ish and made it to church on time. She did really well in church. She woke up a few times, but then went to sleep. Mass got over with around 12:15 and we had Harrison's baptism. Daddy is the godfather of Harrison. I took pics and about 2 minutes left in the Baptism, Addie decided to wake up... she was hungry. So my mom went with me outside and I fed her really quick in the car to tie her over till we got to the reception. I was so proud of her for lasting so long and doing so good in church.

We went to the reception and had great food and visited with family so that is always a good time. We had to leave early because Jeremy was heading out of town for work. His first trip away from Addie. I wanted my mom to stay with us just in case. She stayed with us and Addie had a rough night sleeping again as I tried not swaddling her. She was up every few hours.
